outdated movie reviews

Surf's Up:
- Plot is as inane as you'd expect from the material. Moments of hilarity almost make up for that.
- Still worth seeing because...
- "Camera" work is really well done
- Fluid mechanics action! In HD!
- Not sure if Big Z is the Dude or the corporate evil from Iron Man

The Protector (Tom-Yum-Goong):
- Tony Jaa is unbelievably amazing with stunts and martial arts. No fake/assisted/cgi stunts in this one.
- He actually grew up with elephants, and as a kid did acrobatic flips on them!
- Utterly stupid plot, oh well. Still awesome. Jaw guaranteed to drop.

Grindhouse:
- Deathproof was excellent. Zany, weird, fun (but no match for Kill Bill)
- Planet terror not so much

Blood Diamond:
- Well written and executed
- The whole world of extreme wealth and poverty in commodity-rich countries is sad
- Good to watch, though i have no desire to see it again

Iron Man:
- Better than the typical comic book movie, but i still prefer something with a deeper plot like Batman Begins. I am old.
- don't think you'd be missing out on much if you didn't see it
